    Obituaries

    Heinz Reich

    Heinz Reich of Los Gatos died Oct. 18 of complications from chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He was 78.

    Reich was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Bochum, Germany. In 1948 he married Charlotte Lina "Lotti" Schnitt, also of Bochum. After graduating from college in Germany, he became a master tool- and die-maker for Krups.

    In 1956, Reich came to the United States, sending for his wife and children the next year. He first worked for the Ampex Corporation and later for IBM as a research engineer.

    In 1980, Reich founded and served as president of Minitool Inc., an instrument manufacturing company on University Avenue in Los Gatos. He ran the company until his death. The Reiches lived in the Cambrian Park area until 1987, when they built a home in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

    Survivors include wife of 53 years Charlotte Lina Reich; daughters and sons-in-law Renate and Frank Schaller of Los Gatos and Asta and Steve Fusco of Perkiomenville, Pa.; sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Norbert and Elisa Reich of Santa Barbara and Dr. Siegfried and Mary Reich of Solana Beach; grandchildren Jeremy, Julie, Tiffany, Trudie, Bradley, Eric, Lina, Amy, Spencer and Eleot; sister-in-law Asta Eberhard of Germany; and brother-in-law Alfred Krysik of Los Gatos.

    Memorial services have been held.
