    Council changes meeting dates

Due to its proximity to the New Year's holiday, the town council canceled its Jan. 2 meeting, rescheduling the first meeting of 2001 for Jan. 8.

The council is still scheduled to meet on Jan. 15, for a regular meeting, and Jan. 29, for a strategic planning meeting. All council meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Civic Center at 110 E. Main St.

    Apartments continued

The town council continued the public hearing on a proposed General Plan amendment related to Cupertino Development Corporation's plans to build a 49-unit apartment complex off Blossom Hill Road.

The developer originally requested the item be continued after being informed the council would be one member short at its Dec. 4 meeting. Faced with an unexpectedly full council, the developer said it would be unfair to neighbors to hear the matter, since residents who thought the matter would be continued weren't present.

The basic footprint of the plan was approved by the planning commission on Oct. 25, but the General Plan amendment must be approved by the council. The project also has to return to the commission for architecture and site approval. The council will look at the development on Feb. 20.

    Chamber holds grand opening

The town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce invites the public to its grand opening and holiday open house on Dec. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Chamber recently consolidated its two offices into a new location at 349 N. Santa Cruz Ave., formerly Wolf Camera. The event will feature wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres and live music.
