Los Gatos Weekly-TimesDonald Wilson ObituariesMaria Locatelli Former Los Gatos resident Maria A. Locatelli died Oct. 16 at the age of 92. A native of Strozza, Italy, Locatelli and her family moved to the Santa Cruz area when she was a teenager. After marrying Luigi Locatelli, she spent the early years of her marriage on the family ranch on Mountain View Road in Soquel. In the 1940s, the family moved to Los Gatos, where Locatelli worked in a local cannery. In 1991, Locatelli moved back to Santa Cruz. She was predeceased by husband Luigi, son Ernest Locatelli and granddaughter Diane Locatelli. Locatelli was a member of Holy Cross Church, Sons of Italy, the Italian Catholic Federation and the Family of St. Joseph and Druids Garden City Circle of San Jose. Among her hobbies was trips to Reno and playing cards with friends. Survivors include daughters Lena Silva and Virginia Bertoli, both of Santa Cruz; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services have been held, with entombment at Los Gatos Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, 1041 41st Ave., Santa Cruz, 95062. Donald Wilson Longtime Los Gatan Donald K. Wilson died at home Nov. 6 at the age of 89. Born Jan. 18, 1909, in Ohio, Wilson came to Los Gatos as a child, along with his parents, five brothers and two sisters. He attended Los Gatos schools, graduating from Los Gatos High School in 1927. In the years that followed, he served on the school's reunion committee. In 1933, Wilson married his high school sweetheart Elva Spotswood; the couple lived in Los Gatos for their 65 years of marriage, most recently on Pennsylvania Avenue and lastly at the Los Gatos Meadows. Wilson worked for 19 years at the former Crall's Bookstore, on N. Santa Cruz Avenue. He spent 29 years working for the United States Postal Service at the Los Gatos branch, including a role as morning supervisor. He retired in 1969. A charter member of Los Gatos' Calvary Church, he was a financial secretary, treasurer and greeter. "He was proud of his ability to remember faces and names, and always had a smile and a personal greeting," his family and friends recalled. "The many people who knew him will remember his ability to make them laugh with his teasing and joking. He made you think he had known you forever." Wilson is survived by wife Elva and many nieces and nephews, many of whom considered him more than just an uncle. Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the Donald K.
