Los Gatos Weekly-TimesCraig Heimbichner Craig Heimbichner joins Wind Symphony concertCraig Heimbichner, vice principal of Los Gatos High School, performs with the San Jose Wind Symphony Jan. 10 at 2:30 at the Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association's second program of the season. The concert takes place in Prentiss Brown Auditorium, 20 High School Court, on the LGHS campus. The 60-piece Wind Symphony , under the direction of Darrell Johnston since its inception some 40 years ago, consists of both amateur and professional musicians of many backgrounds and ages. They recently played at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, and in the summer of 1997 they received a special invitation to play at concerts in Schladming, Austria and Davos, Switzerland. Their diverse program on Jan. 10 includes selections by such composers as Dvorak and John Williams. Several George Gershwin numbers are also included. Heimbichner joins the symphony on piano for Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. In addition to his other academic degrees, Heimbicher holds a degree in piano performance from the University of Southern California and has performed in many recitals on the West Coast. He has also taught piano privately and served as a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California.
