    Sports Briefs

    Youth Baseball and Softball

    Baseball and softball teams in the Los Gatos Little League and the teams of the Los Gatos Pony-Colt Baseball League will be back in action in the spring. For information:

    * The Los Gatos Little League fields baseball teams in the T-ball to major divisions.

    * Girls ages 7-16 are eligible for the Los Gatos Little League softball program.

    * The Los Gatos Pony (ages 13-14) and Colt (ages 15-16) divisions play at Fisher Middle School. For more information, call Ken Rodrigues at 408.993.0700.

    Soccer Players

    The Los Gatos Metro, a boys under-10 Class 1 soccer team (under-11 in 2001), is looking for players for the upcoming indoor and spring seasons. Call John Cleveland at 408.395.7464.

    Stanford Clinic

    The annual Stanford Holiday Baseball Clinics return to The Farm this year with sessions scheduled during Christmas vacation.

    Pitching clinics and baseball instruction for players ages 12-18 will be conducted Dec. 27-29 at Stanford. The cost is $115 per session.

    Volleyball Signups

    The United States Youth Volleyball League is now accepting registration for its spring program in Los Gatos and San Jose.

    The coed league is open to players ages 8-14 and the fee of $90 per player includes instruction, games, uniform T-shirt and equipment. League play runs March 31-June 16.

    Basketball camp

    The Steve Barnes Winter Basketball Camp will be held Dec. 27-29, 8 a.m.-noon each day, at San Jose State University. The camp is open to boys ages 7-13 and the registration fee is $75. For more information, call 408.924.1245.

    Pitching clinics

    Pre-season pitching and arm conditioning clinics will be held Wednesdays Jan. 31 through March 14 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. Clinics will be held for players ages 9-10 at 6:30 p.m. and for players ages 11-12 at 7:30 p.m.
