    Sports Briefs

    Softball Clinics

    The Olympian School of Softball, headed up by Lisa Mize and Stacy Pierson, will hold softball hitting and pitching clinics in early January.

    The clinics, for players ages 7-18, meet once a week. For information, call either Mize or Pierson at 408.374.8842 or e-mail osbmize@aol.com.

    Boys Baseball

    Los Gatos Boys Baseball is taking signups for players ages 13-16 interested in playing Pony or Colt League baseball in the 2000 season, and the league is also looking for volunteer coaches in both divisions.

    Los Gatos Pony is holding final signups for players ages 13-14. There are a limited number of spaces still available and the league will soon be forming a waiting list. For information, call Mike Bays at 408.354.1388.

    Los Gatos Colt is just beginning to accept signups for players ages 15-16 for the summer season. For information, call Ira Holtzman at 408.356.5535.

    The league is looking for coaches in both divisions. For information, call Ken Rodrigues at 408.993.0700.

    Youth Signups

    Area youth baseball and softball leagues continue to hold signups:

    Girls softball--For more information about the 2000 softball season for girls living in Los Gatos and Saratoga, call Cindy Battaglia at 408.354.1176.

    Los Gatos Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 2000). Proof of age is required, and players must reside in the Los Gatos Little League boundaries to be eligible. A non-refundable donation of $150 per player is requested ($100 for T-ball), with a maximum donation of $300 per family.
