Los Gatos wins two of three Three Cats hit in double digits By Dick Sparrer There were no Wildcats in double figures in a win and a loss to open the week for the Los Gatos girls basketball team. But Stacy Eichinger, Trina Mills and Nancy Shishido took care of that little problem on Friday night. Eichinger, Mills and Shishido each finished in double digits to lead the Los Gatos girls to a 51-38 nonleague win over Live Oak. The win helped the Cats improve to 6-3 in the young season. Eichinger led the Wildcats with 16 points and Mills supported with 13. Shishido added 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Royya Modir added four points in the win. Los Gatos had opened the week with an impressive 47-30 win over Willow Glen. Erin Cushing led a balanced scoring effort for the Cats with nine points. Kristin Ozawa, Gillan Waddas and Kim Pugliese supported with six points each for Los Gatos. The Cats led by four after a period, 11-7, but trailed by a point at the half, 15-14. Los Gatos bombed Willow Glen 16-4 in the third, though, to take control of the game and then put the win away by outscoring the Rams by six in the final quarter. The two wins sandwiched a tough 39-36 loss to Harbor in another nonleague test. Shishido led the Gatos offense with nine points, including a three-pointer. Mills supported with six points, Kim Pugliese had five points and Cushing and Sara Clark added four points apiece. The clubs were locked in a 3-3 tie after a very low-scoring first period before Harbor outscored the Cats 8-4 in the second quarter to grab an 11-7 lead at the half. The Wildcats tied it in the third by edging Harbor 15-11, but Harbor outscored Gatos 17-14 in the fourth to win by three.
