Cats beat Falcons

Amie Salfen and Marcia Wallis knocked in two goals apiece, and Stacey Caro came through with a school-record five assists to lead the Los Gatos girls' soccer team to a rousing 5-0 win over Saratoga in the first game of the season in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

Sophomore Lindsey Adams also scored off a Caro assist to help the

Wildcats to the easy win over the Falcons. Gatos scored all five goals in the first half.

The Cats improved to 2-1 for the year with the victory.

The Los Gatos boys, meanwhile, opened De Anza Division play by dropping a 2-1 hearbreaker to Saratoga. The Cats slipped to 0-3-2 for the year with the loss.

Baseball Signups

Signups are still being accepted for the 1998 Los Gatos Pony (ages 13-14) and Colt (15-16) baseball seasons.

Openings remain in the Pony division, but there are a limited number of roster positions still available. As signups increase, players will be placed on waiting lists. For more information, call 358-1478.

Colt baseball will return to Los Gatos this summer. The league will field a number of teams that will play against other teams in the district. For more information, call 354-4170.

The league is also looking for volunteer coaches and managers for both the Pony and Colt divisions. For more information, call 358-1478.

Soccer Camp

Professional soccer coach David Gold will serve as the director for the Winter Holiday Soccer Camp set for Dec. 29-Jan. 2 in San Jose.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-18, from novice to select ability levels. Players will be grouped by age and ability.
