Los Gatos Weekly-TimesSports BriefsCats beat Falcons Amie Salfen and Marcia Wallis knocked in two goals apiece, and Stacey Caro came through with a school-record five assists to lead the Los Gatos girls' soccer team to a rousing 5-0 win over Saratoga in the first game of the season in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League. Sophomore Lindsey Adams also scored off a Caro assist to help the Wildcats to the easy win over the Falcons. Gatos scored all five goals in the first half. The Cats improved to 2-1 for the year with the victory. The Los Gatos boys, meanwhile, opened De Anza Division play by dropping a 2-1 hearbreaker to Saratoga. The Cats slipped to 0-3-2 for the year with the loss. Baseball Signups Signups are still being accepted for the 1998 Los Gatos Pony (ages 13-14) and Colt (15-16) baseball seasons. Openings remain in the Pony division, but there are a limited number of roster positions still available. As signups increase, players will be placed on waiting lists. For more information, call 358-1478. Colt baseball will return to Los Gatos this summer. The league will field a number of teams that will play against other teams in the district. Soccer Camp Professional soccer coach David Gold will serve as the director for the Winter Holiday Soccer Camp set for Dec. 29-Jan. 2 in San Jose.
