Jamba juice suspect
Armed robbers strike twiceBy Michelle Alaimo In separate incidents at Ernie's Liquors and at Jamba Juice, armed robbers apparently thought it was better to receive than to give to two local businesses this holiday season. The first incident occurred on Dec. 18 at 9:02 p.m. at Ernie's Liquors, 14140 Blossom Hill Road. Two white males entered the store and one pulled a black automatic handgun on the clerk, Sgt. Michael Barbieri of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department said. The suspect without the gun demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash. Barbieri said both suspects then left by foot and were seen running across the parking lot. The man with the gun was described to officers as approximately 30 years old, with blond hair and a mustache; he wore a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. Barbieri said the second suspect was about the same age, with blond hair; he wore a black sweatshirt and blue jeans. In a second and possibly related incident at Jamba Juice, 628 Blossom Hill Road on Dec. 21, Barbieri said an undisclosed amount of money was taken by an armed robber. The robbery occurred at 6:43 a.m. when a suspect followed the opening crew into the restaurant, Jamba Juice manager Don Duncan said. "It was very quick," Duncan added. A handgun in the suspect's waistband was flashed at the employee, Duncan said. A white male, approximately 25, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, demanded money from the safe. Duncan said money from the previous day had not yet been deposited and that the suspect got all of it. The suspect then left on foot out one of the restaurant doors. It has not been determined if the two incidents are connected. Barbieri asks that anyone with additional information call 354-6825 and ask for a robbery detective.
