Community College Best Dion Rayford had quite a season in the defensive line for the West Valley Community College football team. And the state's community college coaches certainly noticed. Because Rayford, a defensive end from Los Gatos, was picked to the All-State Region II squad as a sophomore for the Vikings. His selection to the team came after he was picked as one of a dozen Vikings to the All-Coast Conference team. Rayford, a 6-foot-4, 246-pounder, was named to the all-conference defensive team along with defensive backs Karriem Adams and Neal Maddox (San Jose), linebacker Halona Coleman and lineman Josh Morrow (Pioneer) of West Valley. Vikings named to the offensive squad included quarterback Lemuel Adams, running back Chad Purcell (Monta Vista), wide receiver Jason Belligan, punter Brian Schweitzerhof (Saratoga), and linemen Duke Vaiga and Joel Tautuaa. Six De Anza Community College players earned All-Coast Conference honors, including quarterback Mike Lueckeman.
