In 1990, when a small group of men and women from Saratoga Federated Church learned about the Romanian AIDS orphans, they began the first step in a long journey that has transformed a bleak Soviet orphanage into the House of New Life and given dozens of children hope for the future. More

After months of artistic endeavors, the mural on the Los Gatos Creek Trail is finished, bringing an artistic panorama of native flowers, trees and animals to the Main Street underpass. Although the number of passport applications has dropped in Los Gatos, expenses have not—and a fee increase will take effect Aug. 19. More	Eleven students recently won scholarships through the Los Gatos Lions Club High School Senior Awards, with Kenneth McKell receiving the top recognition of $2,000.
