Lindsay Dickerson of Los Gatos has qualified for the Pepsi Dribble, Pass and Score National Finals, to be held Oct. 1820 in Foxboro, Mass., in conjunction with the Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup championships.
Dickerson won the title in the girls 1011 age group in competition hosted Sept. 7 by the San Jose Earthquakes at Spartan Stadium. She has competed in the event for four years and is making her second trip to the nationals.
The Pepsi Dribble, Pass and Score youth soccer competition was created by the MLS to provide young soccer players across the country with an opportunity to test their soccer skills. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 614.
Coler kills Montana
Alyson Coler of Monte Sereno buried a career high 29 kills to lead the University of New Hampshire (UNH) to a 3-2 win over Montana State University in the first round of the UNH Tournament last week.
Coler, a junior, nailed the final two kills of the match to lead the Wildcats to a 20-30, 31-29, 30-25, 27-30, 15-9 victory.
Coler, an all-leaguer for the Wildcats at Los Gatos High School, currently ranks third in the America East Conference in kills, and she is closing in on 1,000 career kills for the Cats. She was the team's most valuable player last year.
Bryant wins gold
Dr. Beverley Bryant of Los Gatos won a pair of gold medals in the swimming competition at the recent California Senior Games held in the San Jose area.
Bryant finished first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. She was also second in the 50-yard breaststroke and third in the 50 backstroke. Bryant is a community and government relations representative for Kaiser Permanente.
There were 1,258 competitors, ages 50 to 97, who competed in 22 sports at 15 venues in the greater San Jose area in the California Senior Games.
Zanotto a Red Hawk
Kris Zanotto of Los Gatos is a freshman midfielder on the men's soccer team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. Zanotto, who starred as a high school soccer player at St. Francis in Mountain View, has played in all four of the Red Hawks' first four games.
