Gipsy Kings at Oak Meadow Park for a special fundraising concert
By Jennifer McBride
Those attending the upcoming Gipsy Kings concert on July 1 will nibble on nachos, sip freshly brewed coffee and tap their feet to the "rumba flamenco" beat—and they will also provide support to local arts for years to come.

The scheduled concert at Villa Montalvo by famed Spanish-speaking musical group the Gipsy Kings has been relocated to Oak Meadow Park for some very special causes.

Proceeds from on-site sales made during the concert will benefit a number of local arts programs. According to Bruce Labadie, performing arts director for Villa Montalvo who helped organize this event, 100 percent of proceeds from food sales that evening will benefit the Los Gatos High School Performing Arts Theater, still being built. Proceeds from hot beverages and logo merchandise will go to the Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club, which hosts Jazz on the Plazz, and to the Los Gatos Arts Commission, which hosts Music in the Park.

The concert is sponsored by the town of Los Gatos, Villa Montalvo, the Los Gatos Weekly-Times and many area businesses.

Teri Hope, owner of the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company on Main Street, says she is happy to be selling coffee at the event to benefit these programs. Hope has long been a proponent of local arts. She sits on the board for the arts commission and for many years has coordinated Music in the Park and helped spearhead the Jazz on the Plazz program.

Ticket prices are $60 for general admission lawn seating and $75 for reserved lawn-chair seating. Sales of these chairs will also help benefit the Music in the Park program.

Tickets can be purchased through the Montalvo box office at 408.961.5858 or online at http://www.villamontalvo.org.
