Zanotto sisters, Barnes to swim in an Aquamaids exhibition event

Los Gatos will be well represented when the Santa Clara Aquamaids presents the 2004 Olympic synchronized swimming team in a benefit exhibition, Return to Athens, this weekend.

Los Gatos Olympian Kendra Zanotto will be among those swimmers performing in the event to be held July 10­11, 7 p.m. each night, at the Santa Clara International Swim Center, 2625 Patricia Drive (off Homestead Road) in Santa Clara's Central Park.

Los Gatos age group champions Khadija Zanotto and Hallie Barnes will also be in the field of the more than 60 swimmers, ages 10 to 28, taking part in the exhibition.

The event will showcase the 2004 United States Olympic team, the 2004 U.S. Olympic duet, national solo champion Bill May and the 2004 national championship Aquamaids.

Tickets for the exhibition are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 5­13. Meal tickets are also available for $7. Gates will open at 6 p.m. for meal ticket holders and at 6:30 p.m. for those with general admission tickets.

The event is a fund raiser for the Santa Clara Aquamaids, who are celebrating their 40th season of competition this year. The Aquamaids won their unprecedented 13th consecutive national championship in the 2004 season.
