Popcorn, snow cones, pony rides, a dunk tank—this isn't a carnival, it's one family's way of thanking local law enforcement and firefighters.
Alan and Bonnie Aerts of Monte Sereno started this new tradition last year when they threw a huge party at their multiacre home as a way to recognize local forces, as well as raise money for good causes.
"My wife and I just wanted a way to say thank you to all the local law enforcement and firefighters for the wonderful job they do," said Aerts.
So he and his wife are throwing another huge party this year for local forces from stations in Los Gatos, Campbell and Saratoga—as well as others throughout Santa Clara County—and their families. The event, not open to the public, will include food and drinks and a wide variety of games. There is no charge for officers and firefighters to attend, but donations will be collected, which will benefit the Alisu Ann Rich Burn Foundation and also help fund Camp Champ, a two-week camp it puts on especially for juvenile burn victims.
The party will take place on July 17. For more information, contact Alan Aerts at 408.871.7000, ext. 2.
