Fee rips through Gilroy defense to lead Los Gatos to 6-0 victory

By Kevin Sparrer

Jessica Fee broke apart the defense of the Gilroy soccer team, scoring four goals to lead the Los Gatos girls to a 6-0 non-league victory over the Mustangs.

Fee, though, wasn't alone in her attack--she had some quality feeds from her teammates.

Fee scored her first goal six minutes into the game when Madeline Kevorkian fed her a pass and Fee knocked the ball high and hard into the back of the net. After only 10 more minutes, Shuree Irizarry sent a pass to Kevorkian, who kicked the ball into the net to give Los Gatos a lead 2-0.

Fee scored her second goal at the 35th minute on her own, then Rachelle Comeau found Fee in front of the net for her third goal of the game. Fee's last goal came in the 56th minute when Brianne Medved chipped the ball into Fee, who knocked it into the side of the net for her fourth and final goal of the game.

The last Gatos goal came in the 80th minute when Irizarry slipped one past the post to complete the scoring.

The win marked the seventh win of the year for the Wildcats, taking their record to 7-5 overall and matching their win total from last year, but the Wildcats coaches are confident that the winning will continue.

Los Gatos fell to Palo Alto on Dec. 19, 4-1. The Vikings defeated the Cats quite handily after an even battle through the first 10 minutes of the game. Palo Alto then struck its first goal at the 13-minute mark and forced Los Gatos on the defensive for the majority of the game.

It wasn't until the 66th minute that Susie Brewster booted the ball from a distance and caught the Palo Alto goalkeeper napping for the only Los Gatos goal of the game.

The Cats downed Mt. View 3-0 earlier in the week in the first game of the league season. Los Gatos took an early lead when Fee found Kevorkian, who slammed the ball into the net at the 10-minute mark.

A few slips in the back by the Los Gatos defenders gave the Spartans a clear look at the goal, but the freshman goalkeeper Heather Rouhier kept the ball from getting into the net.

"Comeau was her own wrecking crew for the Spartans' forwards, thwarting passes and dribbling runs from forwards," said Los Gatos head coach Jan Eric Nordmo.

Taylor Comeau was the next Wildcat to score at the 70th minute on a pass from Kevorkian.

Comeau then scored again at the 78th-minute mark without any assistance.

"The Taylor Comeau show played today," said Nordmo. "She was supported by the cast of the versatile Brewster, playing almost all the positions on the field, Allison Arnstein in the back, senior Kerry Esrey and anchored by Rouhier."

The Wildcats are going to Monta Vista to face the Matadors in the next De Anza Division game on Jan. 9 with a 3:30 p.m. start.
