Following trimming of more than 100 eucalyptus and pine trees at Vasona Lake County Park, there is still plenty of fragrant firewood to go around for people interested in chopping and hauling it themselves.
To obtain the wood, interested individuals must apply for a $50 permit that enables them to cut and carry away up to a cord of wood, which amounts to a pile approximately 8 feet long, 4 feet high and 4 feet wide. Permit-users must provide their own goggles, gloves, hard-hat and chainsaw with a chainsaw brake.
A limited number of permits are available. For more information, call the Vasona Lake County Park office at 356-2729.
