The Christmas season started on Nov. 12 for me with Villa Montalvo's International Yuletide put on by the Montalvo Service Group. Neighbors Lois De Brock and Patsy Lee Rossetti and former neighbor Janet Olsen helped make the event a success.
Sally and Burt Towse helped sponsor a party for county supervisor candidate Barbara Koppel and hosted a Christmas party for the American Association of University Women on Dec. 3. It was easy to find their home with its purple door!
Betsy Wood was thrilled to win the exquisite handmade ornament that president Bernice Giansiracusa made for the Friends of the Saratoga Library's Christmas party raffle held on Dec. 4 at the Book-Go-Round.
Chamber of Commerce Director Sheila Arthur discovered there was hidden talent on her own office staff. Marge MacKinnon sings beautifully and led the singing at the Chamber Christmas party on
Dec. 14 at Manhattans.
West Valley Mission Community College Chancellor Rose Tseng joined in the singing around the piano at her home Christmas party on Dec. 10.
Speaking of the piano, talented piano player Dick Wood played at several Christmas events, including the Chamber of Commerce, Saratoga Rotary and Good Government Group Christmas parties.
It was good seeing Fran Andreson there after his heart surgery.
I was fortunate to win a Christmas rug from Carl and Jane Orr's Colour Shoppe as a raffle prize.
Good Government Group board chairwoman Ann Peterson was busy over the holidays. She helped with the group's Christmas party, served on jury duty and managed to decorate two trees for the holiday party that she and husband Don hosted.
The Hakone Foundation held a "Tweener" holiday party between Christmas and New Year's. It was organized by Marjory Bunyard and her committee. A silent auction was held with people's unwanted Christmas gifts!
Some wives took a break during the Christmas holidays and dined and discussed life at the Plumed Horse. The main topic of conversation was the recent power failure. It was reported that some Saratoga housewives wore their mink coats to bed to help keep warm.
My best part of Christmas was sharing it with my 6-month-old grandchild, Rusty Rupprecht.
