Pitching Clinic

Former local fast-pitch superstar Whitney Floyd will host lessons and clinics for girls softball pitchers. Floyd starred locally at Lynbrook High School and went on to All-American status at UC-Berkeley. She is on the coaching staff at Santa Clara University. For more information, call 554-5063.

All-Comers Meets

Los Gatos will host a series of all-comers track and field meets on Saturdays, 12:30 p.m., through Feb. 27. Athletes will compete in open, masters men, women, boys' and girls' divisions. The cost is $3 for athletes and $2 for spectators. Proceeds go toward track resurfacing at the high school. Call Willie Harmatz at 354-7365.

Adult Volleyball

Signups for teams and individuals interested in playing in the San Jose men's adult volleyball league are being accepted. League play begins Feb. 22 in the gym at the Camden Lifetime Activities Center. The cost is $235 per team, and the registration deadline is Feb. 19. Call Laura Hardy at 277-5556.

Shrine Bowl Run

The annual East-West Shrine Game returns to Stanford Stadium on Jan. 10, and so does the East-West Shrine Bowl Run.

The cost for either the 5K or 10 K run is $20 by Dec. 30 and $25 after that. The fee includes a T-shirt, game tickets and a post-race party.

Pony-Colt Signups

The Saratoga Pony-Colt baseball league is holding signups for players ages 13-16. Pony League is open to players ages 13-14, and Colt League is for players ages 15-16. The Colt season begins in late May after the completion of the high school season.

Pitching Program

West Valley Community College pitching coach Burch Boehner will present a winter pitching program Wednesday evenings, Jan. 27-March 10, in the West Valley gym in Saratoga. Players ages 9-10 attend at 7 p.m., and players ages 11-12 attend at 8 p.m.

Preseason arm conditioning, pitching fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills will be covered in the program.
