Saratogan is named Teacher of the Year

Campbell Union School District named Sue Johnson, a Saratoga resident who raises a variety of birds, its annual Teacher of the Year. Johnson teaches second grade at Castlemont Elementary School in Campbell.

Teachers chose Johnson, who values leadership and community involvement, for her commitment to teaching and for instilling a love of learning in students. As a master teacher for the district, Johnson also trains new teachers.

Johnson, who received a bachelor's degree and teaching credential from San Jose State University, has taught first- and second-graders at Castlemont for 17 years. She has taught both grades for more than 20 years.
