Charity supper to benefit many 'courageous kids'
The second annual Gala Charity Supper, sponsored by Rinconada Hills residents and guests, takes place on Jan. 20, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Rinconada Hills Clubhouse, at 100 Avenida Del Sol in Los Gatos.
The brainchild of Fran Rudé, the event is a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations. Last year's beneficiary was the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which fulfills the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening diseases or disorders.
This year's Gala Charity Supper beneficiary is the American Cancer Society's Courageous Kids program, which gives children battling cancer--and their families--a chance to mingle and have fun for free at Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara.
In addition to going on rides, participants in the annual Mother's Day event also enjoy a picnic lunch, play games and get to meet various Bay Area celebrities and sports stars. Courageous Kids was created in 1989 by Saratogans Gay Crawford and Kathy Kroll, together with other local American Cancer Society volunteers.
The Gala Charity Supper includes a champagne dinner, music and dancing to the Gary Chula Band and an auction. Dress is black tie optional.
The tax-deductible cost of the event is $40 per person. Checks payable to Rinconada Charity Events may be mailed to the address above. For more information, call 408.374.5750, during the day or 408.370.1127 in the evening.
