Light Opera holding 'Nunsense' auditions

West Valley Light Opera Association will hold auditions Jan. 20-22 for women only for Nunsense II--the Second Coming.

The musical, the association's second production of its 31st season, is a sequel to Nunsense. The book, music and lyrics are by Dan Goggin, with the same cast of five nuns that appeared in the original musical.

Parts available are Sister Mary Regina, the feisty Mother Superior; Sister Mary Hubert, mistress of novices; Sister Robert Anne, a streetwise character from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Amnesia, a naive nun who lost her memory; and Sister Mary Leo, who wants to become the first nun ballerina.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a song relative to the spirit of the show and bring their own music. An accompanist will be provided. Bring suitable shoes for dance routines.

Tino Cecilio will direct the show, assisted by music director Fay Pettner, choreographer Nancy Kwong, and co-producers Edward Hand and Donna Stuefloten.

The auditions will be held at the Saratoga Civic Theater, 13777 Fruitvale Ave., on Jan. 20, noon-2 p.m., and Jan. 21, 7-9 p.m., with callbacks Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.

Rehearsals begin Jan. 24, and performances are scheduled for weekends from March 23 through April 27.
