Charles Taggart
Saratoga resident Charles Laurence Taggart died Dec. 4 at the age of 76.
Born Aug. 15, 1923, in Dallas, Taggart was a graduate of Texas A&M University. During World War II, he served in India as a 1st lieutenant with the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
Taggart worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric until his retirement in 1985. He also served as a Sunday school superintendent and elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in San Jose.
Survivors include wife Vivian B. Taggart of Saratoga; daughters Lynne Taggart of Santa Clara and Liz Kaspick of Sacramento; son Steven Taggart of Granite Bay; and grandchildren Steven and Laura Kaspick and Cherie and Scott Taggart.
Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Institute, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, 94089.
Kathleen Smith
Former Saratogan Kathleen Boisen Smith died of cancer Oct. 22 in Winchester, England. She was 38.
Smith was a graduate of Foothill Elementary School, Redwood Middle School and Saratoga High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from UC-San Diego. Smith lived in Del Mar, Calif., and Talent, Ore., before moving to England four years ago.
Survivors include husband Rupert Smith of Winchester; children Dylan and Caitlin Bourke of Winchester; parents Monte and Evelyn Boisen of Saratoga; sister Barbara Kvek of Nipomo, Calif., and brother Monte Boisen Jr. of Blacksburg, Va.
Memorial services have been held.
