    Drama group to perform revue

    The Saratoga Drama Group will be performing The World Goes Round: The Songs of Kander & Ebb from Feb. 2 through March 2 in the Saratoga Civic Theater, 13777 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga.

    Directed and choreographed by Geri Carlson Sauls, this musical revue features songs from musicals including Cabaret, Chicago, Zorba, Funny Lady and Kiss of the Spider Woman. The principal performers are Molly Carter, Diane Milo, Emily Saxe, Will Perez and Tim Reynolds. For show times or ticket prices, call 408.264.3110 or visit www.sdg.to.

    A gourmet trip is on the agenda

    The Saratoga Recreation Department is taking reservations now for a March 7 day trip for those who enjoy good food, drinks and sweets. The trip begins with a visit to Berkeley's Fourth Street, which is known for its specialty shops and cafes. Lunch is at Spenger's Fresh Fish Grotto, with a choice of entrees. Next is a guided tour of Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker factory. Concluding the day is a tour of Pyramid Ale House brewery, including ale tasting.

    Space is limited to 29 people. The trip is open to adults of all ages. Early reservations are recommended, as are good walking shoes. Cost is $69 per person. For more information, call 408.868.1248 or 408.868.1249.

    Soirée Musicale plays in Saratoga

    Soiree Musicale, a San Jose-based chamber music group, performs a program by Beethoven, Dvorak and Caccini on Feb. 1 at 7:45 p.m. at Westhope Presbyterian Church, 12850 Saratoga Ave. The featured musicians are Wangchen Long and Tina Minn on violins; Kevin Jim on viola; Julie Reimann and Michael Graham on cello; pianist Karen Heather and soprano Agnes Mah.

    A reception with the artists follows the performance. There is no admission charge, although donations are accepted. Everyone is asked to bring a finger food or non-alcoholic beverage to share.

    Soiree Musicale has promoted chamber music through free concerts presented every two months since its 1975 inception. Two of the six yearly concerts are held in public venues; the others are in private homes. For more information about the group, call 408.269.2137.
