Realtors' Cantree nets 25,000 cans

Members of the Peninsula West Valley Association of Realtors contributed more than 25,000 cans of food to feed the less fortunate this holiday season.

Each year, real estate agents throughout California contribute to feed the hungry. The "can tree" moniker comes from the practice in some communities of building a Christmas "tree" of canned foods. The Los Gatos-Saratoga agents donated their food to the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose this year.

"The Christmas CanTree project provides a wonderful opportunity for the Realtors to give back to the community and assist those in need during the holidays," said Patricia Pipkin, PenWest board president.
