Saratogans earn prizes for essays

Saratoga students will be well-represented when the Los Gatos Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution gives out prizes for its American history essay contest next month.

Reshini Patel, a student at Argonaut School, was first runner-up among the fifth graders; Lucas Crowley won first place and Kathleen Loncaria was second runner-up in the seventh grade. Crowley and Loncaria are students at Sacred Heart School. Charlene Killebrew, who also attends Sacred Heart, was second runner-up among the eighth-graders.

Students in the fifth through eighth grades in Los Gatos and Saratoga were invited to participate. Lakeside, St. Mary's, Sacred Heart, Argonaut and St. Andrew's elementary schools and Fisher Middle School were represented.

The winners will read their essays and receive their awards Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Saratoga Library.
