Auto burglary--Sometime be-tween Dec. 13 and Dec. 14. A burglar took a television, a videocassette recorder, two remote controls and a television cabinet from a Ford van parked near the owners' Jamestown Drive house. The goods were worth $1,150, the victim reported.
Vandalism--Sometime between Dec. 15 and Dec. 19. Someone etched graffiti into windows of the Prospect High School administration office.
Drunken driving--Dec. 26 at 3 a.m. A deputy arrested a man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The deputy first spotted him leaning out the door of a borrowed 1991 Porsche, which was stopped dead center on Juniper Lane, to throw up. The man's driver's license had expired.
Threatening telephone call--Dec. 31 at 5:47 p.m. An unknown caller threatened an employee at St. Andrew's School on Saratoga Ave.
Vandalism--Sometime between Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, graffiti was painted on baseball dugouts at Saratoga High School on Herriman Avenue.
Attempted burglary--Jan. 3 between 3:10 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Someone took screens from two windows of a Yuba Court house and broke one window, the owner discovered upon returning home. A sheriff's department spokesperson said something, possibly the owners' return, may have scared the burglar away before the job was finished.
Unattended death--Jan. 4 at 6:20 p.m. A Saratoga resident died in her home. The coroner's investigation is pending.
Solicitor without permit--Jan. 4 at 4:30 p.m. A pair of door-to-door salespeople from Kentucky and New Hampshire were cited for soliciting without a permit. Both worked for an Illinois-based firm.
Burglary--Jan. 5 between 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. A burglar broke into a De Havilland Drive house after snipping the phone lines. The homeowner reported jewelry, coins and other small items taken.
Bomb threat--Jan. 6 at 4:15 a.m. A caller rang the Allendale Avenue post office, asking for an employee by name, then telling the employee, "There's a bomb on Willy's desk." Postal workers evacuated the building until 7:30 a.m. A sheriff's department bomb expert found a suspicious package on one desk, but an X-ray examination showed it was not a bomb.
