The Montalvo Service Group is offering a series of Sunday brunches at Villa Montalvo to help raise money to provide adequate housing for Montalvo's resident artists.
Each brunch has a different seasonal theme: February's will reflect Valentine's Day, March's honors St. Patrick, April's celebrates Spring, and May's brunch will be held on Mother's Day.
Two separate seating times are offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Service will be buffet style, and musicians will perform. Guests will be assigned reserved tables in Montalvo's reception rooms, overlooking the villa's sweeping front lawn and gardens.
Montalvo's Artist Residency Program, the oldest on the West Coast, offers the gift of freedom to artists of many different disciplines who come from throughout the United States and abroad.
At present, Montalvo can accommodate only five artists at any one time. Since there are usually more than 300 applicants each year, there is a pressing need for more space, said spokesperson Ursula Millett.
Montalvo also lacks up-to-date rehearsal rooms, studio space, dark room facilities and community rooms, she said.
Reservations for brunch are required and can be made by calling Montalvo's business office on weekdays at 741-3421, ext. 300. The cost is $40 per person, $20 for children 12 and under. Infants under age 2 are free.
A portion of the cost is tax-deductible, since Montalvo is a registered nonprofit organization.
Parking is at Montalvo, 15400 Montalvo Road.
