General's adventures recounted

Gen. Henry Morris Naglee, a conspicuous figure in early Santa Clara County history, will present a program at the Monday, Jan. 27, meeting of the Saratoga Historical Foundation at 7:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Community Library, Fruitvale and Saratoga avenues.

Naglee will appear in the person of Jack Douglas, emeritus head of special collections and university archivist at San Jose State University. Douglas, who has made a study of Naglee's life and times, will appear in Civil War costume and recount some of the general's adventures when he came to San Francisco after the Mexican War and was a member of the Committee of Vigilance, otherwise known as the Vigilantes.

The meeting is open to the public without charge.
