Friends of the Libraries group in a growth mode

The Friends of the Libraries group is having a very positive year. Their membership is up 31 percent from last year. Membership chairman Jim Givens feels that Monte Sereno and Saratoga residents are the cause of the success because they want a quality community library and are aware of all the good things happening at the library. The Friends have donated a great deal of money for various library projects. According to Mary Jeanne Fenn, Book-Go-Round chairman, much of the money was earned at the Book-Go-Round on Oak Street, where secondhand books are sold at low prices. Community librarian Dolly Barnes says thanks to the Friends, new bestsellers are being purchased and soon will be available for checking out of the library a week at a time at no additional cost.

Speaking of bestsellers, the American Association of University Women's Educational Foundation Committee has an Authors Luncheon scheduled Jan. 30 at the Saratoga Country Club.
