    Little League

Openings remain for boys and girls ages 5-6 interested in playing T-ball in the Saratoga Little League this spring. There are no tryouts, and the emphasis is on learning in this fun and instructional division. All children play.

Parents must provide their child's birth certificate and proof of residency within the Saratoga Little League boundaries.

The registration deadline is Jan. 31. For more information, call 408.794.0279.

    Lacrosse Camp

Stanford coach Joe Christie will host a lacrosse camp April 8-11 for beginner to intermediate players ages 8-14.

Christie, a teacher at Redwood Middle School, will team with Redwood teacher and athletic director Brian Senior to put on the camp in Saratoga.

For more information, call the Saratoga Community Center at 408.868.1248.

    Men's 30+

The Saratoga Recreation Department is now holding team registration for the men's 30-and-over basketball league. Games are played Saturday mornings at Saratoga High School, beginning Jan. 26. The team fee of $549 includes two officials per game and individual awards for the first-place team. For more information, call 408.868.1234.

    Falcons win, lose

The Saratoga boys soccer team pushed its record to 5-1-2 in the El Camino Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League last week with a win, a loss and a tie.

A.J. Weitsman knocked in a first-half goal off an assist from Alan Sung, then Sung scored in the second half off assists from Anthony Lin and Brad Seago to lift the Falcons to a 2-1 win over Cupertino.

The Falcons, 8-4-2 for the year, had battled Milpitas to a scoreless tie earlier in the week. Saratoga opened the week with a 2-1 loss to Monta Vista. Weitsman scored off a Jason Mueller assist for Saratoga's only goal.

    Pop Warner

The Los Gatos Pop Warner football organization is currently holding online registration for players and cheerleaders. Last year teams filled up quickly, so interested boys and girls ages 7-15 are encouraged to register early.

The season begins in August of 2002. Signup information is available at www.lgpw.com or call the organization's hotline at 408.920.2204.
