    'Hearts and Flowers' fill Aegis Gallery

    Just in time for Valentine's Day, Aegis Gallery of Fine Art is holding a group show titled "Hearts and Flowers," which opens Jan. 29 and runs through Feb. 25. The show, which features the works of the gallery's approximately two dozen member artists, includes new paintings, collages, photography, blown glass, ceramics, paper sculptures and masks.

    Rotary Art Showto screen artwork

    All artists interested in participating in the 45th annual Saratoga Rotary Art Show will have a chance to present their artwork for jurying on Jan. 26 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the West Valley College Campus Center, 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga. The show itself takes place all day on May 5, at WVC.

    Artists should bring samples of their work that are representative of what the artists wish to sell at the show. The works to be screened by the judging panel can be paintings in all mediums: photography, paper and fiber arts, wearable art, sculpture, woodwork, leather craft, glass art, ceramics, jewelry and graphic art.

    Youth symphonyplays in Saratoga

    The El Camino Youth Symphony, a nonprofit organization based in Palo Alto, presents its annual Faculty Recital Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Church, 13601 Saratoga Ave.

    The evening of chamber music features ECYS music director Dr. Camilla Kolchinsky on violin; ECYS conductors Michail Gelfandbein and Rebecca Pollock Ayres on cello and flute, respectively; and ECYS coaches Debra Weinberg and Ken Crawford on clarinet and percussion, respectively. Joining them are guest soloists Zunxian Zhou, Ju-Yi Peng and Melissa Huang on violins and viola.

    Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for students.
