Million Mom March invites public to join local chapter
The Million Mom March, a grassroots, nationwide movement whose goal is sensible and safe gun legislation, is forming a Santa Clara County chapter and invites all current and prospective marchers, as well as supporters, to attend its kickoff meeting on Jan. 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Marriott Silicon Valley, 2700 Mission Blvd. in Santa Clara.
The meeting provides an overview of the national Million Mom March organization, which educates the public about gun safety, supports survivors of gun trauma and works to support legislation that prevents deaths and injuries related to the irresponsible use of guns.
The meeting also details the goals of the new Santa Clara County chapter and ways prospective members can get directly involved to help protect their communities. Guest speakers include Chief Larry J. Todd of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department and Chief William M. Landsdowne of the San Jose Police Department.
