    Sports Briefs

    Hot Stove Banquet

    Pat Burrell of the Philadelphia Phillies and Rick Helling of the Texas Rangers will be the featured guests when the 17th annual Hot Stove Banquet returns to the Santa Clara Valley on Feb. 6.

    John Shrader of KNBR-68 will serve as master of ceremonies for the Santa Clara County Baseball Fundraisers event that will begin with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the banquet to follow at the San Jose Elks Club.

    Bob Arum, chairman of the board for Top Rank Inc., will be the evening's special guest.

    Tickets are $35 per person and $350 for a table of 10 ($300 per table of 10 for youth, high school, community college and college baseball groups). For information call 408.446.3443.

    All-comer Meets

    Los Gatos will host winter all-comer track and field meets Saturday through Feb. 24 at the high school track. The pole vault competition begins at noon with other field events at 12:30 p.m. and running events at 1 p.m. The cost is $3 for unlimited events and $2 for spectators.

    Pitching Clinics

    Pre-season pitching and arm-conditioning clinics will be held Wednesdays Jan. 31 through March 14 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. Clinics will be held for players ages 9-10 at 6:30 p.m. and for players ages 11-12 at 7:30 p.m.

    Masters Swimming

    The West Valley Swim Club hosts its master program and lap swimming at the Saratoga High School pool, Monday through Friday, 6-7:30 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 7-8:30 a.m.

    Swimmers must register with Pacific Masters Swimming. The fee is $5 per swim, $50 for a 20-swim card or $40 per month.

    BASHOF Donations

    The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame will donate more than $120,000 in athletic-equipment grants to boys and girls youth sports organizations in the area as part of its youth fund.
