    Signups continue for youth baseball, softball

    Area youth baseball and softball leagues continue to hold signup sessions for the 2000 season:

    Girls Softball--For more information about the 2000 softball season for girls living in Los Gatos and Saratoga, call Cindy Battaglia at 408.354.1176.

    Saratoga Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 30, 2000). For information, call 408.970.6222.

    Saratoga Pony-Colt--Pony baseball is for players ages 13-14, and Colt is open to players ages 15-16. For more information, call 408.867.5170.

    Bobby Sox Signups--The Blue Hills Bobby Sox girls fast-pitch softball league will hold signups for girls ages 5-18 on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 7-9 p.m., at Round Table Pizza, 6138 Bollinger Road (at Miller next to Safeway).

    There is a $75 fee per player which includes uniform, pictures, and participation trophy. Players must provide a birth certificate, medical insurance information, doctor's name and phone number, dates of last physical exam and tetanus booster, and a utility bill for address verification.

    The league holds practices and plays its games at Dilworth Elementary School in West San Jose. Opening day is March 11.

    Quito Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 2000). Players from parts of Campbell, Los Gatos and Saratoga are eligible for the league. Call 408.943.4707 or contact the league's website at www.quitoll.org for more information.

    Pitching Camp--A pitching camp for youngsters ages 8-12 will be held Jan. 26-March 8 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. Arm care and conditioning, pitching fundamentals and defensive skills will be covered. For information, call Burch Boehner at 408.615.7957.
