A reception with cocktails and light hors d'oeuvres begins at 6 p.m.; the fashion show begins at 6:45 p.m. Afterward, those attending can be fitted or place orders. West Valley artist, instructor holds show From Jan. 28 through Feb. 12, the West Valley College Campus Center Art Gallery will display a retrospective exhibit featuring the works of Pat Sherwood, a local artist and instructor of art at the college. Water media use is painting-class focus As part of the Winter/Spring 1998 Hakone Gardens Arts Program, local artist Patricia Allen offers workshops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 7 that deal with experimentation with water media. Summit League holds healthy-living forum The nonprofit Summit League presents a community forum called "Staying Healthy in the '90s" on Feb. 10 from 8:15 a.m. to noon at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. The forum benefits Saratoga's Villa Montalvo and its artists-in-residence cottages. Guest speakers are Dr. Merle A. Sande and Dr. Julie Gerberding. Sande speaks on "Antibiotics: Use vs. Abuse," while Gerberding's topic is "Food-Borne Infections: Today's Dilemma." Cost of the forum, which includes breakfast, is $55.
