Pony League
The Saratoga Pony League will hold late registation each Saturday through March 8 at Congress Springs Park. The league will also hold clinics and spring training for players ages 13-14 (as of July 31, 1997). For more information, call John at 867-7253.
Valentine's Run
The annual Valentine's Fun Run/Walk returns to Campbell on Feb. 8. The race begins at 9 a.m. at Water Tower Park in Campbell and the registration fee is $15. Registration deadline is Jan. 31. For more information, call 866-2105.
Vikings fall
Scott Reeves and Taplar Mvogo pitched in 17 points apiece, but the West Valley Community College men's basketball team dropped an 83-76 Coast Conference decision to Foothill last Friday.
Reeves buried four three-pointers and Mvogo added one, but it wasn't enough for the Vikings.
James Holmes supported with 14 points for Valley, and Toby Vares added 11, including a couple of threes. Darrell Teat had a three among his nine points, Robert Taylor popped four free throws and Chris Ott, and Derek Mickle had two points apiece.
West Valley will try to get back on the winning track this week against a pair of local rivals. The Vikings will host San Jose City College on Jan. 29, 7 p.m., before visiting De Anza on Jan. 31, 7 p.m.
Locals star for Dons
Jenny Miller, a Prospect graduate, poured in 17 points to lead the De Anza Community College women's basketball team to a 64-31 win over Gavilan last week.
Jane Riley (Westmont) added four points and Lisa Pesiri (Prospect) had two for the Dons in the win.
Riley had six points and Miller four in a win over the College of San Mateo earlier in the week.
The Dons are now 7-0 in conference play and 22-5 for the year.
Westmont grad David Newberg, meanwhile, helped the De Anza men's team to a split last week. Newberg tossed in 25 points in an 80-79 win over Ohlone and came back with 20 points in a 74-69 loss to Ohlone.
All-Comers Meets
Los Gatos will host the annual All-Comers track and field meets on Saturdays through Feb. 22 at the high school track. The entry fee is $3, $2 for spectators. For more information, call Willie Harmatz at 354-7365.
