Photographers show work at Aegis Gallery
Four photographers are exhibiting their art through Feb. 23, at Aegis Gallery, 14531 Big Basin Way in Saratoga. Los Gatan Nancy Jo Lopp uses the Polaroid emulsion transfer process to create her images; Saratogans Mel and Ronnie Rabadeau emphasize the beauty of nature as well as man-made objects; John Howard has been a photographer for more than 50 years and also enjoys nature.
The public is welcome at a reception with refreshments on Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., at which time Lopp will demonstrate the Polaroid emulsion transfer.

Soirée Musicale to play chamber music in Saratoga
Soirée Musicale presents an evening of chamber music by Mozart and Schubert on Feb. 1, at 7:45 p.m. at Villa Montalvo's Carriage House Theater, 15400 Montalvo Road in Saratoga.
The featured musicians are Karen Heather, Wangchen Long, Meghan Heather, Michael Graham, Carolyn Smith and Julie Regan Reiman.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Everyone attending is requested to bring a finger food or beverage to share at the reception afterwards.
Soirée Musicale, founded in 1975, offers free bimonthly concerts in various Bay Area cities. Two or three of the six yearly concerts take place in public venues; the others are held in private homes.
Library Friends welcomes a high- tech guest speaker
Dr. Malcom M. Cohen, a principal investigator in the Gravitational Research Branch and science manager for the 20-G Centrifuge at Ames Research Laboratory, provides a provocative program at the Friends of the Saratoga Libraries' Feb. 5 meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Community Library, 13650 Saratoga Ave.. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome.
Cohen is also a consulting professor in the human biology program at Stanford University, where he teaches a course on astrobiology and space exploration. He is a specialist in human perceptual and behavioral adaptation to unusual environments and has presented and published more than 100 papers in the general areas of human physiology and psychology.
