Letter writer should listen more carefully
James Stuart has misquoted me [Speak Out, Jan. 10]. He quotes me as saying the Neighborhood Preservation Initiative would "hijack the political process" and then goes on with a sarcastic comment suggesting I am ignorant of the fact that initiatives are part of the political process.
But I said "hijack the planning process"--a quite different thing. Mr. Stuart was at that City Council meeting; he could have heard what I said. Borrow the videotape of the Dec. 20 council meeting from the library to hear for yourselves exactly who said what.
I favor decisionmaking by elected representatives. Measure G does not. I urge Saratogans to vote "no" on Measure G.

Member, Saratoga City Council
