Naomi Newman of A Traveling Jewish Theater will perform excerpts from Snake Talk on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth David.
Her performance is the third entry in the Distinguished Lecture Series of the South Bay Institute of Jewish Living and Learning.
Out of one woman, three characters emerge--an uncompromising artist, an Eastern European Jewish mother and a curmudgeonly street crone. With humor and insight, through stories and songs, they tackle contemporary issues of aging and death, planetary survival, competition, jealousy, child abuse, the theft of women's power and sacred teachings.
Newman fills her monologue with humor and music, singing and accompanying herself on the harmonium.
Congregation Beth David is located at 19700 Prospect Road. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for seniors and students. For tickets, call Michele Schneiderman, program director, at 358-3636, ext. 57.
