Saratoga NewsNews BriefsSaratogan needed to represent city The city is seeking a resident to represent Saratoga at meetings of the Countywide Joint Child Care Committee and the Children and Youth Collaborative Task Force. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors requested that the city appoint a child-care coordinator, but officials decided they do not have the resources to devote to the task. Anyone interested in serving as the city's coordinator can call Grace Cory, Saratoga's deputy city clerk, at 868-1269 by Feb. 27. Library will offer Net introductions The Saratoga Community Library is offering introductions to the Internet and to the library catalog for families with children. The sessions include safety information, sites recommended for children and how to move from one screen to another. Catalog introductions emphasize finding material by subject, author and title, and using other databases. The sessions are recommended for families with children ages 2 and up, but can include information geared for specific ages, such as magazine searching for older students. To make an appointment with the children's librarian, visit the library or call 867-6127 after 1 p.m. Residents needed to fill vacancies The Saratoga City Council is seeking residents to fill vacancies on the Heritage Preservation and the Public Safety commissions. The Heritage Preservation Commission, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m., considers matters of the designation and preservation of Saratoga's heritage resources and advises the council on same. Applicants will be invited to the March 10 meeting.
