Saratoga NewsWestmont's Dinh pins title at Overfelt ClassicWarriors move into the top 10By Dick Sparrer To win a title at the Overfelt Classic, a wrestler must win his first match and win his last match--and win a few more in between. And that's just what Westmont's Phat Dinh did last weekend, culminating a perfect day at Overfelt with a 7-2 victory in the finals at 119 pounds. Dinh topped a list of five Westmont placers in the rugged tourney to help the Warriors finish in the top 10 in the team standings in the tough 29-team field. Tokay ran up 200.5 points to win the tournament's team championship. Los Gatos was a distant second at 153.5. Westmont rolled up 91 points to claim eighth overall in the tourney. And it was Dinh who led the Warriors to that solid finish with his individual title at 119 pounds. Luong Vuong came through with a second for Westmont, losing a 4-2 heartbreaker in the finals at 103 pounds. Greg Woodland was fourth at 215 pounds for the Warriors, losing his third-place match 2-1. Tony Oka ended up seventh at 145, and Aaron Garcia was eighth at 125. Prospect's Joe Mannina also placed in the tournament, finishing second at 140 pounds for the Panthers. Westmont had posted a rousing 52-19 win over Andrew Hill during the week in dual-match action. The win helped the Warriors improve to 4-0 in the Santa Teresa Division of the BVAL. Dinh had the biggest win of the day for the Warriors, a 17-6 major decision win at 125 pounds. Woodland added a 5-3 victory at 215 pounds, and Matt Hoover won 4-0 at 121. Brodie Gorman won on an injury default at 160 pounds, and the other six Westmont wins were by forfeit--D. Dinh at 103, Garcia at 130, Daniel Rodriguez at 135, Pham Do at 140, Philip Doan at 145 and Oka at 152. Prospect lost 67-6 the same day to Silver Creek in the West Valley Division of the BVAL. Robert Long pinned at 152 pounds to pick up Prospect's only win of the match.
