It took a while, but the Saratoga boys' basketball team won a pair of league games last week. And the Falcons did it in memorable fashion.

Saratoga opened the week with a tight 48-45 win over Homestead, then battled back with a thrilling 49-48 overtime victory over Fremont.

In each game, the Falcons found themselves locked in a tie after three periods. And each time, Saratoga came on strong for the victory.

Saratoga and Homestead were tied 34-34 after three quarters before the Falcons outscored the Mustangs 14-11 in the final period to pull out the win.

Saratoga, now 2-5 in the division and 4-15 for the year, came back to upset Fremont later in the week.

Fremont entered the game contending for the division lead with a 4-2 record, but the Falcons dropped the Firebirds from the leader list with the overtime win.

The Falcons went up 18-14 in the first and led by a point at intermission, 24-23. Fremont tied it 32-32 by the end of the third, then the clubs matched 10 points in the fourth. Saratoga took the slim edge in the overtime period 7-6 to win by one.
