High School District board names new officers

The Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School district board elected Cynthia Chang, last year's vice president, to serve as board president for 2002.

Board members named Phil Nielsen, last year's clerk, as vice president and Dr. Jackie Schmidt-Posner as clerk. Dr. Cynthia Hall Ranii, district superintendent, becomes secretary.

Trustees renamed Chang as the board representative who will vote for members of the Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization. California Education Code 35023 requires that each district board choose a trustee to vote in the election for committee members. Also, Nielsen will continue to serve as representative to the Metropolitan Education district board. Schmidt-Posner will continue to represent the high school district on the Institute of Computer Technology board, and Ron Adolphson will continue to serve as representative to the board KCAT, Los Gatos' public access station.

Bonnie Yamaoka named president of SUSD board

The Saratoga Union School district board of trustees named Bonnie Yamaoka, board clerk in 2001, its president for 2002. The four other trustees voted unanimously for Yamaoka at the board's annual organizational meeting Dec. 11, 2001. Yamaoka has served on the board for three years.

The trustees also named board member John Waite as clerk and Stephanie Petrossi, who served as president for the last two years, as secretary.

Trustees named Cindy Ruby, the 2001 secretary, as the board representative who will vote for members of the Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization. The California Education Code requires that each district board choose a trustee to vote in the election for committee members.
