Daffodil Days blooms again at American Cancer Society
As it does each year in February and March, the American Cancer Society is gearing up for Daffodil Days, its fundraising campaign named for the flower that symbolizes hope and new beginnings with its habit of blooming before spring.
The ACS's mission is to bring "Hope. Progress. Answers." to the thousands of people diagnosed each year with cancer, the thousands who are already battling the disease, and the friends and relatives of cancer patients.
Now through March 2, ACS volunteers are taking orders for freshly cut 10-daffodil bouquets for $10 and larger special arrangements in vases and baskets, ranging from $55 to $110. Another option is the Gift of Hope bouquet, which consists of fresh daffodils in a vase, delivered anonymously to cancer patients in local hospitals and treatment centers. Gifts of Hope are available at $15, $25, $50 and $100 levels.
From every Daffodil Days dollar raised, more than 70 cents goes directly to the ACS's cancer research, patient and family services, education programs and advocacy.
According to Sue Lorson, a cancer survivor and co-chairwoman of the campaign, more than 800 volunteers have already signed up to assist with daffodil deliveries March 26-28. For more information about Daffodil Days or volunteering with the ACS, call 408.879.1032, ext. 150.
