    Saratoga vineyard plans for an early Valentine's Day

    Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards, at 22600 Mount Eden Road in Saratoga, has scheduled its fifth annual Vineyard Valentines weekend for Feb. 10 and 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Visitors can pack picnic lunches, enjoy the view and sample Cooper-Garrod's cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay. The Chocolate Dream Box in downtown Los Gatos will provide brownies.

    Paws and claws scamper over to Gallery Saratoga

    The member artists of Gallery Saratoga, 14531 Big Basin Way, present their third annual "Paws and Claws" group exhibit now through March 1. The theme of the show is animals of all kinds, portrayed in a variety of mediums.

    An artists' reception with refreshments takes place on Feb. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 408.867.0458, or visit http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/8678/saratoga/ on the Internet.

    Art group hosts framing expert at its meeting

    The Saratoga Contemporary Artists invites the community to attend its Feb. 8 meeting, at which time artist and master framer Bob White will discuss materials and techniques for framing, and demonstrate the use of materials that can enhance artwork of all mediums. White works at the University Art store in San Jose.

    The SCA is also conducting a membership drive. All current members are encouraged to bring guests; the public is welcome. A peer review of members' paintings takes place at each meeting and all in attendance are permitted to vote. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Saratoga Library, 13650 Saratoga Ave.

    The SCA is a community organization that promotes the arts and lets artists of different levels and styles socialize, network, review each others' works and occasionally paint together. Call 408.866.1309.
