Love Connection
Love Connection--it's more than just a television show. Now it's a weekend run to celebrate Valentine's Day in Los Gatos' Vasona Park.
The Love Connection Couples Relay will be held Feb. 11 in Vasona Park. The starting gun blasts at 9 a.m. to send each couple on a 2-mile loop through the park.

Valentine's Run
The annual Valentine's Fun Run/Walk will return to Campbell on Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. The starting line is in Water Tower Park, First Street and Orchard City Drive in Campbell, and competitors can participate in the 10K run or 5K walk.
The registration fee is $15 through Feb. 9 for the event hosted by the Campbell Recreation Department. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. For more information, call 866-2105.
Schell stars
Bill Schell of De Anza Cupertino Aquatics won the 50-meter freestyle and was second in the 100 freestyle at the 1996 United States Swimming Grand Prix Meet in Seattle, Jan. 12-14.
Schell, an All-American at Stanford University, posted Olympic Trials qualifying times in both events at the Grand Prix Meet. The Stanford grad has decided to put off medical school at the University of North Carolina to make an Olympic bid. The Olympic Team Selection Meet will be held in Indianapolis in March.
Justin Nicholas also placed for De Anza Cupertino Aquatics at the Grand Prix Meet. His fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke earned him a spot in the United States Swimming National championships.
Soccer players needed
The De Anza Blue Heat is looking for players for under-13 select and under-14 development teams for the spring season. Players are needed for all positions, and player evaluations will be held Feb. 10, 17 and 24, 10-11:30 a.m., at Jollyman Park in Cupertino.

Softball tryouts
The Los Gatos-Saratoga Girls' Softball Association will hold tryouts for the 1996 season on Feb. 10 at Foothill School in Saratoga.
Tryouts will run 9 a.m.-noon for girls ages 11-12, and noon-3 p.m. for girls ages 13-14. All girls ages 11-14 must try out.
