Clyde Vaughn resigned from the Odd Fellows Home last week.

Vaughn moves on

By Tim Persyn

Clyde Vaughn, executive administrator of the Odd Fellows Home of Saratoga, resigned Feb. 1 after more than four years at his position. Vaughn will be succeeded by Charles Gascoigne, currently the administrator of the site's health center.

Vaughn said he was resigning because "it is time to move on." He said he had mixed feelings about leaving his position at the senior residential home.

"I'm sad to be leaving the home, because it has a great future," he said. "But I'm eager about my future."

Vaughn will manage Villa Serra in Salinas, a position he said had the same kind of responsibility as his job at Odd Fellows.

Although he is looking forward to his new position, he said he would miss certain aspects of the Odd Fellows Home. "Anyplace I go will not have the facilities and grounds I have in Saratoga," said Vaughn, who described the Odd Fellows' site as "heaven on earth."

Vaughn said his resignation had nothing to do with the issue of the Odd Fellows' building plans for the Saratoga site. The order currently has long-term plans to develop the 37-acre property but has struggled to obtain city approval.

"I have every confidence the plans will be carried out. The board of directors and the staff are committed," he said.
