Virginia Palm
Longtime Saratogan Virginia Palm died Jan. 21 in a Cupertino nursing home of stroke complications. She was 86.
Born May 13, 1913 in Marshalltown, Iowa, Palm graduated from Stanford University in 1936 with a degree in political science. While in college, she joined the Delta Delta Delta sorority and remained an active member for the rest of her life.
A resident of Saratoga for more than 50 years, Palm served as director of the Saratoga Parent-Teacher Cooperative Nursery School, a Girl Scout leader, a substitute teacher, a wedding hostess and a house-sitter. She was also a volunteer at the Book-Go-Round and Hakone Gardens in Saratoga. She served on the Homeless Committee for the Georgia Travis Center and was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Saratoga Foothill Club, Villa Montalvo and the Saratoga Federated Church.
Palm was preceded in death by ex-husband Lorrill A. Palm and son Richard V.N. Palm. Survivors include sons Lawrence A. Palm of Santa Cruz and Steven Palm of Cottonwood, Ariz.; daughter Susan Palm of San Jose; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Madronia Cemetery, Saratoga. Donations may be made to the Saratoga Federated Church.
Nicola Brunamonti
Nicola Brunamonti of Saratoga died Dec. 18 at the age of 91.
Born May 24, 1908, in Perugia, Italy, Brunamonti was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Antonio Brunamonti and son Gene Brunamonti. Survivors include daughter Norene Furiosi of Saratoga; grandchildren Tony, Sandy, Tina and Gene Furiosi; great-grandchildren Brandon, Nicola, Bobby, Michael, Emily, Bethany and Thomas; and sister Italia Cruciani.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.
Allen Kelly
Saratoga resident Allen Luke Kelly died Dec. 29 at the age of 73.
Kelly was born Nov. 26, 1926, in the San Jose area. After graduating from Bellarmine College Preparatory and Santa Clara University, he received doctorate degrees from St. Louis Medical School and Santa Clara University Law School.
A practicing surgeon and attorney, Kelly was a member of the San Jose Surgical Society, Santa Clara County Medical Association, California Medical Association, FACS, Santa Clara County Bar Association and the State Bar of California. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga.
Over the years, Kelly served as chief of medical staff, chief of the Department of Surgery, chairman of the Credentials Committee, vice chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee and a member of the Cost Containment Committee for El Camino Hospital in Mountain View.
Survivors include wife Margaret Kelly of Saratoga; sons Patrick, Terrence, Kevin and Brian Kelly; daughters Sally Davis and Kathleen McLoughlin; and 14 grandchildren. Kelly was predeceased by son Timothy.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Madronia Cemetery, Saratoga.
Joanne Pearson
Joanne Pearson died Jan. 7 at her Saratoga home. She was 60 years old.
Born May 26, 1939, in Hibbing, Minn., Pearson worked as an administrative assistant. She was also a member of the Sierra Club and the Humane Society of Santa Clara Valley.
Pearson was preceded in death by her husband Roger Glenn Pearson. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Norman Hawley
Longtime Saratoga resident Norman Alvon Hawley died at his home Jan. 8. He was 88.
A California native, Hawley was born Jan. 26, 1911. He was a retired technical illustrator for Lockheed, a past owner of the Quito Variety Store in Quito Village and a prominent local sign painter. He also formed the Westernaires square-dance band.
Hawley was predeceased by wife Ruby Christine Hawley. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Judith Hawley, son Richard Hawley, daughter and son-in-law Norma Jean "Pip" and Robert Young; grandchildren Diane Danner, Amber and Heather DeCecco, and Michael, Christopher and Joey Hawley; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Kaiser Hospice, 900 Kiely Blvd., Santa Clara, 95051.
Dolores Clark
Saratoga resident Dolores Clark died Jan. 9 at Columbia Good Samaritan Hospital of complications related to a brain tumor. She was 67.
Born Sept. 24, 1932 in Grand Forks, N.D., Clark was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, William Clark of Saratoga; son and daughter-in-law William and Barbara Clark; son Bobby Clark; daughters and sons-in-law Beth and Larry Johnson and Bonnie and Rick Cerkleski; granddaughters Stacie Johnson and Rachel Cerkleski; mother Mabel Flovik of Saratoga; two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
