Saratogan wins $200,000 in lottery

Jim Rawson, a Saratoga resident and an electronics technician for Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, scanned only a portion of his SuperLotto ticket on Jan. 18.

"I put it in my glove compartment with a bunch of other stuff and sort of forgot about it," Rawson said. "When I cleaned out my glove compartment last weekend, I found the ticket, so I took it to 7-Eleven [on Payne Avenue in San Jose] to have it checked."

Rawson was shocked when he found out he had won the Bonus 7 prize making him $200,000 richer.

With a $5 SuperLotto purchase, a Bonus 7 play of seven numbers is automatically printed at the bottom of the SuperLotto ticket. If six of the Bonus 7 numbers match the six drawn numbers, the player wins $200,000.

Rawson, who is single with no children, plans on investing his winnings and putting them toward his retirement.
